Swatches of the purchased colors from light to dark:

Kapow is described as a cool taupe. It does seem to have a purple tone to it too. I really like this color but with a soft brown lipliner like Soft Brown by NYX.

WYD is described as a mid-tone warm beige. I would have liked this better if it was a little more flesh toned without so much peach. It’s workable with a lipliner that has more of a deep brown to blend the color better with my complexion. I would suggest Chestnut by NYX.

Circles is described as a cool toned burgundy. I would definitely describe it as more of a cool toned deep red. To me, burgundy would be more of a merlot color. It’s still a very pretty red and went on smooth. I also like that on my complexion I can choose whether or not I wear a lipliner. (Note: I tend to like lipliners even if I don’t “need” it because it does help define my lips. If your lips are already very defined, then it could be redundant to line each time you wear a lip color unless the color does need help to look more flattering on your complexion.

Saturday is described as a cool toned blackberry shade. I agree and it’s very flattering on brown skin.

LAX is described as as vampy red. I would trade out this description for Circles that is pictured earlier. This is more of a merlot wine color and is flattering on brown skin with or without lipliner.

Be-Dazzled is described as a deep true purple. I would slightly disagree because this color is a bright purple and it does not apply evenly. You have to layer a few times to achieve a even, bold look. Otherwise, it looks uneven and with a color this bright, it is not becoming.

Guess is described as a dark blackened violet. That is a very accurate description and it is a great vampy purple if that’s your desired look. The consistency of this particular color was uneven as well and a little blotchy.

Overall:

For $6.50 lipsticks these are a pretty decent product. I have had a few colors for a while and they do separate in the tube which makes it difficult to use long term which is a little disappointing. Also, I noticed that some colors have a better consistency than others. I do have an issue with inaccurate descriptions of the colors on the website considering that is the only place you can buy them. However, I do applaud them for being proactive in showing the colors on different complexions so that you have a better chance at picking colors that would work for you. The matte finish isn’t the most drying I’ve had but it isn’t comfortable either. Note: Once these start fading or drying throughout the day, you will have to remove and reapply. The finish will be clumpy if you reapply on top of what you have on already. All of that to say, for the price, this is as good as it will get.

UPDATE: Colourpop will be sold through Ulta.
